Foster City, Calif. – December 14, 2015 – Zuora®, the world’s leading provider of subscription billing, commerce and finance solutions, announced the appointment of David Gee as the company’s chief marketing officer. With more than 20 years of experience marketing innovative enterprise and mobile computing products and solutions, Gee will be responsible for driving global awareness of the Subscription Economy® and running the company’s corporate and product marketing functions, including brand, communications, events and worldwide go-to-market and demand generation programs.
“The increasing demand for subscription business models and the maturity of the Zuora platform have created a once-in-a-century market opportunity,” said Zuora CEO Tien Tzuo. “We are poised for tremendous growth, and David has the knowledge, experience and vision to scale our marketing efforts, properly align our activities with the needs and perceptions of the market, and help evangelize the Subscription Economy.”
Prior to Zuora, Gee was the Chief Marketing Officer and Executive Vice President of Marketing at Infoblox. David joined Infoblox when they were a private company and became a key member of the leadership team that took the company public. He helped double revenues in their first three years as a public company. Gee built a worldwide marketing team, drove growth in the sales pipeline, and helped Infoblox pioneer a whole new category — DDI — that encompassed the DNS, DHCP and IP Address Management, massively increasing Infoblox’s addressable market.
Prior to Infoblox, Gee served as Vice President of Marketing and Enterprise Solutions of the webOS Global Business Unit at HP, where he was responsible for product marketing strategy, go-to-market planning, and product launches. He also served as HP Enterprise Services’ Vice President of Worldwide Marketing and as HP Software’s Vice President of Marketing. Before HP, Gee served as Vice President, International, for the Yahoo! Enterprise Solutions business unit, as Vice President of Sun Microsystems’ Global iForce programs, and as Director of IBM’s NetGen group. Gee holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Lancaster University, England, and an MBA from Georgetown University.
“At this point, almost every company and government institution on the planet has to begin the journey to offering their products and services to consumers, businesses and citizens as subscriptions. I don’t think it’s possible to overstate the importance of the Subscription Economy in these business and operating models, or, the importance of Zuora as the leading enabler of the Subscription Economy,” said Gee. “I’m incredibly excited to join the Zuora executive team and help the company grow and execute on our vision of a subscriber-centric world.”
