The Team & Role

As a Sr. SDET Manager, you will be establishing and implementing quality best practices across all teams at Zuora. You will hire, retain and grow a team of talented engineers to drive quality, be the voice of the customer and influence teams to build quality into every phase of the SDLC.  You will have a broad understanding of the Zuora ecosystem to guide and help your team come up with innovative ways to test, build frameworks and tooling.  You will work across the organization, partnering with different functions (Engineering, Product Management, Release Management) to influence and drive quality focused initiatives.

You have the capacity to be a significant contributor in building Zuora’s next generation product of Order, Billing, Payments, Finance, Revenue, and Platform.  If you are passionate about customers, SaaS and being part of a collaborative engineering team that continuously innovates then Zuora is the place for you.

This is a location specific position that requires you to come into the office regularly to be most effective. 

Our Tech Stack: Java, MySQL, Spring, Rest API, Microservices, Kafka, Spark, NodeJS, AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, AngularJS 

What you’ll do

  • Hire, retain and grow world class test engineers that will drive quality across Product and Technology
  • Establish and implement quality best practices and set the quality bar using metrics and release criteria
  • Influence product quality by surfacing risks, trade-offs, and impact to customers
  • Technical capacity to guide the team in developing tools, frameworks, & test automation 
  • Empower team to drive quality focused discussions (test plan reviews, bug triage, customer issues)
  • Build partnership across the organization to better understand how our customers interact and use our products to enable us to innovate our testing practices
  • Broad understanding of CI systems and ability to come up with improvements to drive efficiency

Your experience

  • Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering, or relevant education/experience.
  • 10+ years in software testing, test automation or test development role
  • 5+ years of experience in managing and growing high performing teams that works with teams globally
  • Proven experience with delivering high quality software products within a full development lifecycle
  • Good understanding of OO programming and concepts, preferably Java.
  • Knowledge of automated tools, testing frameworks and CICD
  • Good verbal & written communication skills and demonstrates the  ability to collaborate across teams and organizations. 
  • Works well in an entrepreneurial, team environment and is willing to remain vocal with thoughts and ideas.

Nice to haves

  • Experience testing in a distributed system, service-oriented architecture or SaaS product is a big plus
  • Experience with CI systems and tools and good understanding of test pipelines
  • Strong grasp of various QA and SDLC methodologies.  Experience with Agile Methodology is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Cloud technologies (Docker, AWS) is a plus
